Women’s Quartet Final 2022 results: South Carolina and Yukon, play in the National Championship on Sunday

The 2022 NCAA Women’s Championship is relegated to two teams: South Carolina and Ocon. The Gamecocks and Huskies combined their Final Four victories in Minneapolis on Friday, establishing a star-studded national championship on Sunday.

The AP’s No. 1 wire-to-wire team South Carolina opened the Final Four in a goal post against top seed Louisville. The match was a real struggle for the giants, with both teams entering the competition after winning all but one of the tournament’s matches. The Gamecocks took the lead, 72-59, to reach their second National Championship in the past five years.

The National Championship match broke out after Ocon’s victory over Stanford, the reigning National Champion. UConn’s Paige Bueckers scored 14 points a game to help the Cardinal top the score 63-58.

Here’s what happened in each Final Four competition.

  • Three days after winning the Naismith Player of the Year award, Alia Boston showed why she deserved the honor by dominating in a 72-59 win over Louisville. Despite facing doubles and triples teams, Boston led South Carolina with 23 points to match 18 rebounds and four assists. South Carolina will now have a chance to win their first national title since 2017. Louisville’s Emily Engstler scored 18 points, nine rebounds and four possession in a masterful losing bid.
  • UConn star Paige Bueckers pulled off the Huskies’ 63-58 victory over Stanford, the reigning national champion, by scoring 14 points to coincide with four rebounds and five assists. The Husky’s defense was equally crucial to the win, as Stanford – who went up by two points in the last minute but failed – fired 35.4% from the field and made just four of their 23 3-point attempts. UConn will now be looking for its first national title since 2016 against the top seed in South Carolina.
