Who are the super rich youth and what do they do? Perspectives and ambitions of students at the world’s most expensive schools – Executive Digest

While the lives of super-rich kids may seem like a fairy tale on television, their realities and ambitions are rarely fully revealed to the public. A new study reveals what happens to these young people after leaving one of the most exclusive boarding schools in the world, where tuition fees can reach 125 thousand euros a year.

The study began with observations and interviews with students at this prestigious school located in the Swiss Alps covering a period of over 15 months. Five years later, the researchers revisited these young people to find out how their lives had turned out after completing their studies. ‘The Conversation’ reveals that most of them started their careers after completing their university studies.

Despite coming from very wealthy families and being encouraged to adopt a global outlook, the findings show that these young people’s friendships and interactions are often shaped by their cultural and national origins. Although they embarked on international careers, they maintained strong ties to their home countries, appreciating the family and community support available at home.

Among the findings, despite the attention-grabbing consumption of young adults, such as staying in luxury hotels and buying expensive things, many of these young adults are discovering the value of self-sufficiency and financial independence.

The study also addressed the challenges these youth face as they transition into adulthood. The reality of racism and geopolitical tensions affected their perceptions and experiences, challenging the privilege they enjoyed at boarding school. The search for a balance between life abroad and connection to the home country has led to a variety of career and lifestyle choices.
