Russia has announced a final offensive to seize the strategic city of Mariupol
Russia on Tuesday announced a final offensive to capture Mariupol, a strategic port city in southeastern Ukraine, after the deadline for Ukrainian forces to lay down their arms and leave the area expired.
“We have repeatedly communicated to Kiev through all available communication channels proposals for the withdrawal of Mariupol from the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the laying down of its weapons,” said Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry.
