Christine Lambrecht spoke at the US-based conference in Rammstein, Germany, which was attended by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, NATO Secretary General Jens Stodenberg and defense ministers from a number of EU countries.
Portuguese Minister Helena Carreras participates via video conference.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
“I’m glad this meeting sends a strong signal about Ukraine’s security, dear (Austin) Lloyd.
The German defense minister referred to the “brutality” of Russian troops and stressed the need for “coordinated” assistance to Ukraine.
In this context, Lambrecht recalled that the increase in the German military budget would allow the creation of a special fund of மில்லியன் 100 million for defense spending.
The Berlin government today confirmed the approval of the Krauss Maffei Wegmann (KMW) to ship Kiebert tanks to Kiev.
“In the face of war and brutal aggression, we have moved away from the policy of restricting the export of arms to conflict areas, especially to help Ukraine. This is not an easy decision, but it is a decision supported by the majority of our people,” the German defense minister said.
Lambrecht said it was sending munitions, i.e. anti-aircraft missiles, from the German army.
The Minister revealed that the decision to send tanks to train the Ukrainian army in the use of a particular type of weapons on German soil.
According to the German minister, the first step in dealing with the Russian head of state is coordination, so aid to Kiev should be coordinated.
“Putin thought that (Vladimir)’s Western allies would be torn apart by war. The opposite happened.
Lambrecht said Germany would help Ukraine by sending arms, ammunition and humanitarian supplies.
“Germany has been criticized. But the numbers say something else,” he declared, calling for “international unity.”
Russia launched a military offensive in Ukraine on February 24, in which more than 2,000 civilians were killed, with UN figures warning that the actual figure could be much higher.
The group said more than 12 million people and more than five million had already fled the country due to the military offensive.
