Tiger Woods makes the cut at The Masters

(CNN) He stayed in the balance for much of the morning on what if Tiger wood will make the cut in Gentlemen But after a nervous wait, the pentathlon champion made it through the third and fourth rounds in Augusta.

In his 25th appearance at the prestigious major, Woods tied Gary Player and unique couples Record by making 23 consecutive cuts at The Masters.

The 47-year-old, who suggested earlier in the week that this could be his final tournament appearance, finished his second innings trailing one over 73.

With rain at Augusta National, Woods bogeyed the 17th and 18th holes to go into triple for the championship, meaning he needed others to drop shots for him to make the cut.

Greens keepers clear a standing water on the 18th green during a late second inning.

Weather made consistency difficult for players on the course, which worked, to an extent, in Woods’ favor as Justin Thomas fired a bogey on the 17th to move the expected cut to three.

Thomas suffered an awful nine backhands, downing six shots, in a round that consisted of a six-bogey, double-bogey and a birdie, which meant the PGA champion missed the cut.

Woods completed 11 holes of his second round on Friday and was more than two par, then the expected cut, when play was suspended for the day due to bad weather.

He stayed in the two spots until the final hole of the round, hitting two birdies and three bogeys in an improved performance on his first round 74.

Koepka lead cut

Brooks Koepka, who finished his second round before bad weather ended the match early on Friday, remained in the lead by 12-minus after finishing the second round, although world number three John Rahm trimmed his advantage to two shots.

Ram resumed with a card of nine under the 10th hole, hitting a five birdie and two bogeys in bleak conditions.

As expected after two dreadful days, world number two Rory McIlroy missed the cut, finishing five times in the tournament.

Woods hit bogey in the 18th.

The third round has already begun. Woods is set to tee at 1.06pm ET and has played several holes on the same day which – if the weather holds – will be a real test for the 15-time major champion.

His competitive appearances have been sporadic since suffering serious leg injuries in a serious car crash in 2021 and after his opening round on Thursday he said he was in “constant” pain on the hilly Augusta course.
