“Proclaim the Resurrection and Redemption of Jesus”
This Sunday's Gospel tells of the apostles' difficulty in believing in the resurrection. The influence of Greek dualism, the separation between body and spirit and its superiority to matter, was thought to be fading, and members of the early Christian community had difficulty believing in the resurrection of the flesh.
We can understand Luke's accuracy when he says, as in John, that the appearance of Jesus took place at night, not only a physical night of nature, but a night of the soul, full of anguish, disturbance, and doubt.
Jesus appears among them and proves that he has a body, bears the marks of the same passion, that it is nourished and that it is firm.
It is necessary for the Lord to open our hearts and minds for us to believe in His resurrection. Seeing and feeling is not enough, God's grace is needed to understand the scriptures.
Then the Lord gives His friends the task of witnessing. This brings us to the Acts of the Apostles, where Peter's action clarifies what it means to live this mandate. Pedro declares KerygmaIt means eternal newness: Jesus, the Son of God, died and rose again to save us.
In the third reading, John teaches us in his letter that to know God, to know Jesus, is to keep his commandments, and we know that his greatest commandment is love.
Therefore, our mission as baptized people is to proclaim the redemption of Jesus, his resurrection, and to love everyone without limit.
