Wildlife is always a box of surprises, especially when captured in a photo: A bear takes 400 selfies using a camera at Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks in Colorado, USA. The moment was so extraordinary that park rangers decided to share it on social media.

In a tweet, along with the four selfies, park officials clarified: “Recently, a bear found the camera we use to track wildlife: out of 580 photos captured, about 400 were bear selfies”. In the photos, the bear can be seen in a variety of poses: straight ahead, left, right, side profile and including sticking out its tongue.
However, the release came as some surprise, as bears typically hibernate at this point of the year. However, in November 2022, the forest rangers confirmed that the photos were shared on Instagram before hibernation began. Watch ‘Photo Shoot’:
In total, the American park has 9 cabins covering an area of 46,000 acres (about 186 square kilometers). “The cameras ‘come alive’ when an animal is in front of them. When that happens, the cameras take pictures – they’re also capable of capturing between 10 and 30 seconds of video,” explained a park official. “At night, the cameras use infrared light to capture disturbing images of nocturnal wildlife.”
