The Dragon House “My Love” moment was impromptu

Spoiler warning!!! spoilers for Dragon House Episode 8 Continue! Don’t read unless you’re cornered.

Paddy Considine dropped some sad details about his final moments playing Viserys Targaryen after this week’s episode.

If you are caught, you know that poor Viserys has finally succumbed to his terrible injuries, but not before Entering the throne room like a boss And clarifying the succession of the Driftmark … unfortunately also caused a misunderstanding that will lead to the release of Dance of the Dragons.

Considine revealed that his last line as Viserys – when he reaches out in front of him and whispers “my love” – was impromptu! He also revealed that yes, he’s actually talking about Aemma when he says it 😭.

“There were a little bit of innate, improvisational moments that reached the final stage,” Considine said. Eagle. “At the last moment – in my mind, I made a choice that when he dies, he sees Aemma. When he reaches out his hand and says, ‘My love’, that’s what he sees the moment he dies.”

But that wasn’t the only thing that was improvised! One of my favorite moments in the entire episode was when Viserys was painfully trying to ascend the steps to the throne, and his crown fell off his head. According to Considine, it was an accident, and Matt Smith (Daemon) improvised in capturing the crown and helping his brother to the throne.

“It was a beautiful moment,” Considine He said“But then we went to Gita [Vasant Patel, the episode’s director] And he said, “Look, this has to stay. This has to be part of the scene. It’s a very good moment, and it says it all without words. Those brothers, the tugging they’ve had over the years, all the turmoil and threats and heartache and all that—that The moment says it all. And she came out of an accident. And Jetta was great because she had the kind of experience and knack for seeing the moment and let’s preserve it.”

And just in case you didn’t like Paddy Considine, he also revealed that he tried – and failed – to get the props department to allow him to bring home the infamous Valyrian steel dagger. but he succeeded To take home one of his wigs, a stone dragon typical of his ancient city of Valyria, and a coin with his face on it.

I will miss Viserys a lot as the series continues, thanks in large part to Considine’s excellent performance. But for now, bring up the Dragon Dance!
