Studio Ghibli and Star Wars studio Lucasfilm will release Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies, an original hand-drawn short animation, at Disney+ tomorrow, November 12.
This announcement appears to be the culmination of annoyance from Studio Ghibli that the legendary Japanese animation studio will be collaborating with Lucasfilm on some projects.
This new original short film will be shown exclusively on DIsney+ on the third anniversary of the premiere of The Mandalorian, directed by Katsuya Kondo and featuring music by Ludwig Goransson.

Grogu, or Baby Yoda as he’s affectionately called, first appeared in The Mandalorian and has taken the galaxy by storm ever since. On the other hand, dust bunnies appear in My Neighbor Totoro and Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away. In Japanese, it is known as susuatarior wandering soot.
On November 10, Studio Ghibli posted a short video of Lucasfilm’s logo followed by its own, leading the internet to believe that these two worlds would soon collapse in one amazing way. Studio Ghibli will continue to tease about this collaboration in the following hours, including She appeared on a Grogu statue with Hayao Miyazaki’s blurry in the background.
Studio Ghibli, founded in 1985 by Miyazaki, Toshio Suzuki, and Isao Takahata, is the studio behind such beloved projects as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
Lucasfilm, founded by George Lucas in 1971, is the now Disney-owned company responsible for franchises like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Willow, and more.
