Savannah Guthrie tested positive for COVID-19 on Feb. 28, prompting her to leave TODAY during the morning broadcast.
Savannah did not appear on TODAY after 7:30 a.m. ET after her positive test.
Sheinelle Jones gave viewers an update at the end of the eighth hour of the show.
“By the way, it was an interesting morning for us. Like we said, she left Savannah early, she wasn’t feeling well, so she took a COVID test,” Chenelle said.
“It came back positive. So, as soon as we found out, I rushed home to rest. So Savannah, we love you, and we wish you a speedy recovery.”
The TODAY co-anchor previously tested positive for COVID in May 2022, which resulted in her staying home for five days to isolate. This was the second positive COVID test of the year.
She called TODAY from home at the time, saying she had “chilled a little bit.” Savannah said she took the opportunity to get some sleep, do some reading, watch TV, and do some cleaning and organizing.
Savannah, who was vaccinated against the virus and received a booster shot, was first tested positive for COVID in January 2022.
