Russia bombed the convoy with Western weapons

This Friday, Russia bombed the Ukrainian rail network to prevent the passage of a convoy carrying weapons from Western allies, a source from security officials in Kiev said, an allegation confirmed by Moscow's military.

According to a Ukrainian official quoted by French news agency AFP, the attack was aimed at “disabling” military supplies, part of which were sent to help Western countries fight Russia.

The same source added that Moscow had carried out a series of attacks on Ukrainian railways, pointing out that such actions were “classic actions before attacks”.

“The aim is to freeze supplies and military cargo,” he said.

However, the Russian military announced that it had attacked a convoy carrying Western weapons in the Ukrainian region of Donetsk (east) for delivery to Kiev.

“A convoy with weapons and Western military equipment was attacked near the city of Udachne,” the Russian Defense Ministry said, without giving further details on the outcome of the attack.

Since Russia invaded the country on February 24, 2022, Ukraine has relied on financial and military aid from Western allies.
