Five months after the actor disappeared while hiking in California’s San Gabriel Mountains, a body was found near the search area.
After a five-month search, Julian Sands’ disappearance may have been solved. A public hiker in Southern California, near the area where authorities were searching for the British actor, spotted the remains and alerted Fontana police. CNN International.
In a statementSan Bernardino County Police revealed that “a member of the public who was traveling contacted the Fontana Police Station after discovering the remains in the Monte Baldi Forest.”
“Fontana Police officers, along with the Sheriff’s Department’s Emergency Operations Unit, responded to the scene. The body has been transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office and is awaiting identification, which should be completed next week and we will update at that time. This press release said,” I read in the note.
The search for the British actor, which lasted more than five months, was reduced to “limited capacity”.
Julian Sands, a mountaineer with a background, went missing in the Mount Baldy Bowl area. In the same area, two other climbers lost their lives this winter and other incidents of missing or injured have led authorities to warn of danger.
The 65-year-old actor’s missing alert was raised on January 13 at 7:30 pm. Julian Sands’ vehicle was immediately towed by the family, who praised the “heroic” efforts of the San Bernardino Police Department.
