oh The demonstration was organized by the “Less Tourism, More Life” platform made up of more than a hundred associations, collectives and social movements in Mallorca and takes place two months after a similar demonstration in May.
Organizers said there were 50,000 people, but the national police counted around 12,000, and the protest took place during peak tourist season in the Spanish bathing region.

Limiting the number of flights, cruises, car rentals and holiday homes, regulating the purchase of housing for non-residents are some of the measures recommended by the site.
Despite the weight on the economy, people in Spanish regions with high tourism have considered the saturation of activity in recent months, the depletion of resources or severe impacts on the housing market.
According to official statistics, Spain is the world’s second-largest tourist destination after France, and will receive 86 million foreign visitors by 2023.
The latest data from the National Institute of Statistics reveals that tourism represented 11.6% of the Spanish Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2022 and created more than 1.9 million jobs in the same year.
