Well, yeah, we know we’re a little late to the eShop Selects from May, but come on, it wasn’t E3 season! However, we are back once again to collect the best deals of the month; Granted, it was relatively quiet for the most part, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t any diamonds lying outdoors (maybe we were a little cheating and included a game or two of packed games this month – hey, it was quiet, okay?! ).

So let’s get cracking then! Well, the first round of some honorable mentions that weren’t in our top three, but nonetheless worth checking out regardless.

In the meantime of course, be sure to check out eShop set for April while you are at it!

publisher: Segono / Developer: Segono

Release date: May 11, 2022 (United States of America) / May 11, 2022 (UK/EU)

Coming in at number three is the fantastic narrative-driven title OPUS: Echo of Starsong. We called it “an emotional adventure that’s the pinnacle of the series so far and one of the best story-driven games on the Switch” in our review, highlighting the amazing atmosphere on offer and the emotional weight of the story.

publisher: Bandai Namco / Developer: Bandai Namco

Release date: 27 May 2022 (United States of America) / 27 May 2022 (UK/EU)

PAC-MAN MUSEUM+ took home the Silver Medal this month, and it’s a delightful compilation of some of the character’s most iconic versions over the years. It has a lot to offer, with leaderboards and missions to complete, and we just loved how powerful the simulation is for each game. Some of the extraneous content might be a bit missing, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that this compilation includes some of the greatest games of all time.

publisher: travel companion / Developer: jump over age

Release date: May 5, 2022 (United States of America) / May 5, 2022 (UK/EU)

And in first place this month was Citizen Sleeper, which many of our employees unanimously enjoyed. Its powerful narration and writing can be compared to the likes of the stunning Disco Elysium, and we particularly enjoyed the beautiful art style on display along with the fantastic synth wave soundtrack. Definitely one to buy if you like hardcore RPGs!

How do we decide our online store picks the top three: As we come to the end of each month, the Nintendo Life team votes on their favorite titles from a list of games hand-picked by the editorial team. To qualify for this list, these games must have been released as a digital Nintendo Switch eShop title only in that particular month, and must have been reviewed on Nintendo Life; We select eligible games based on the results of their review.

The employees are then asked to vote for three matches they think are worthy of sitting at the top of the list; The first choice gets 3 points, the second choice gets 2 points, and the third gets 1 point. These votes are then tallied to create a top three list, with the overall winner taking home the first prize of the month.
