New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin sparred over a question they deemed sexist during a press conference in Auckland, New Zealand on Wednesday.
“Since you’re the same age and have some things in common, a lot of people will question if you decide to meet and be together. As they entered politics Or can New Zealanders really be expected to address the agreements between the two countries?”
Jacinda Ardern interrupted the journalist and asked: “Did anyone ask Barack Obama and John Key if they got together because they were the same age?” Refers to former President of the United States and former Prime Minister of New Zealand.
“We have a high proportion of men in politics – that’s the truth – if two women meet, it’s not because of their gender.” The Times🇧🇷
Sanna Marin, on the other hand, responded that the meeting took place because “we are Prime Ministers”, adding that the Finnish official’s visit to New Zealand was “a special request of mine” and that he hoped his visit would strengthen “Relations with the Country”.
