To reach these results, researchers studied more than 11,000 adults over 30 years. According to a release, the aim was to examine the relationship between serum sodium levels that increase when fluid intake is reduced and various health indicators.
Therefore, they concluded that adults with borderline levels were at risk of chronic conditions, early death, but also showed more signs of aging.
In those with the lowest doses, i.e., they were more hydrated, the exact opposite results were reported.
“The results suggest that adequate hydration may delay aging and prolong disease-free life,” said Natalia Dmitrieva, one of the authors of the study.
