Kemp’s 192 catches over his five seasons ranks fourth all-time for a Cavaliers team. Those receptions totaled 1,774 yards and eight touchdowns, and that yardage mark ranks tenth most in school history. Kemp was also Virginia’s leading punt returner – he led the team in punt return and touchdown yards in four straight seasons from 2019-22 and totaled 2,337 all-purpose yards for his career.
Kemp played in seven of Virginia’s ten games in 2022, catching 74 passes for 725 yards and six touchdowns. The Cavaliers’ final two games of the regular season were canceled after three players were killed – D’Sean Perry, Lavel Davis Jr. and Lavel Davis Jr. and Devin Chandler – in shooting.
Kemp declared for the NFL Draft in December, but got into the gate after the NCAA granted Virginia’s seniors an extra year of eligibility in the wake of the tragedy.
Kemp enters a much-needed Nebraska receiving room with his playmaking ability and experience as a sixth-year player. The Huskers return just two of their last season’s contributing receivers Marcus Washington (31 catches for 471 yards and 1 touchdown) and Alante Brown (16, 191). Adding escapees will help with depth, too.
