The acropalypse bug was first discovered and then addressed by Google in the latest Android security update back in March. The issue didn’t affect all PNG files, but the concern was that bad actors could exploit the vulnerability to restore partially edited images, particularly those cropped to delete sensitive information. As with Google’s March Android update, Microsoft’s patches will not protect images previously created with screenshot tools.
