Megan Hilty mourns The loss of her pregnant sister, brother-in-law, and nephew.
“On Sunday afternoon, a small floatplane crashed into Puget Sound off the coast of Whidbey Island. My beloved sister Lauren, Ross’s brother-in-law, and little nephew Remy were on board that plane,” Hilty, 41, wrote on Wednesday. Instagram greetings.
“To make this news even more devastating, my sister was eight months pregnant and we were expecting to welcome baby Luca into the world next month,” she continued.
“The past three days have been the worst of our lives. There are no words to adequately express the depth of our grief.”
Hilti continued to correct reports claiming that Remy was her niece, also noting that Lauren Hilty and Ross Mikkel “left behind” an underage daughter.
“Fortunately, she wasn’t on the plane,” Meghan concluded, speaking of her niece. “The outpouring of love and support means a lot to everyone in our family. It was so comforting to know how much Lauren, Ross, Remy and Luca really love.”
Smash’s three relatives were among a group of 10 who died after their plane crashed in Puget Sound, Washington. The US Coast Guard confirmed Tuesday.
It is not yet clear what caused the tragic accident.
“We are deeply saddened and deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Ross Meikle, Lauren Hilty and Remy, and their unborn child, Luca.” Statement from the Mikkel family read.
“Our collective grief is unimaginable. They have been a shining and shining light in the lives of all who knew them. Although their time with us was very short, we will carry their legacy forward..
“The huge outpouring and support we’ve received from our friends, family and the public has been overwhelming,” he continues. “At this difficult time, we ask that our privacy be respected as we mourn the loss of our family members.”
In June of 2019, Megan, Lauren and third sister Kristen joined their parents for an Australian vacation, as the stage actress posted about the family’s journey. via Instagram.
“We’re Fa-mi-li, I brought all my sisters (and mom and dad) with me!” Meghan captioned a family selfie at the time.
“I can’t believe I will be singing in a couple of days at the Sydney Opera House!!! And to make it even better, I have my family here to experience this Australian adventure with me!”
