Both lawmakers said the advisers would help bolster the presence at the US embassy in Kyiv and help in other areas.

“I don’t think anyone is defending anything [American] The military is on the front line, but assisting with logistics, planning for those operations, and integrating intelligence is very important right now,” Waltz said.

On Saturday, Russia launched a missile attack on Odessa, Ukraine’s largest port, less than 24 hours after the two countries separately signed a UN-brokered deal in Turkey on Friday allowing both countries to export grain.

“This is critical to the global food supply and the fact that after only one day of these negotiations, Russia will do in bad faith what they just agreed not to do,” Cheryl said. “The next day was really shocking and, quite frankly, very frustrating.”

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken It also condemned the strike in a statement on Saturday, “Russia has breached its obligations to attack the historic port from which it will again transport grain and agricultural exports under this arrangement.”

Russian forces have expanded their missile strikes in recent days to include cities across Ukraine, killing dozens, including children.
