US President Joe Biden already knows when and how Israel’s retaliation will happen
Members of Israel’s political security cabinet were told on Sunday that a “large-scale” attack against Iran was imminent, CNN Portugal confirmed.
Preparations are underway for an attack on Iran and the THAAD anti-missile defense system has been installed in the country.
Netanyahu’s government ministers will not be briefed on the details of the attack before it is launched.
The attack will be much larger than initially expected because of the attack on Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence over the weekend, which was considered an attempt to kill the prime minister, CNN Portugal also learned.
According to Reuters, US President Joe Biden already knows when and how Israeli retaliation against Iran will occur.
The Iranian delegation to the United Nations says Joe Biden’s statements in Germany last week show the US president gave “tacit approval and overt support for Israel’s illegal military aggression against Iran”.
“The United States will bear full responsibility for its role in inciting, instigating and permitting any acts of aggression by Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” as well as for the catastrophic consequences for regional and international peace and security, the letter to the Security Council said, referring to Iran’s mission to the UN.
The United States expressed “deep concern” over the leak of two classified and top-secret documents detailing Israel’s preparations for a retaliatory strike against Iran, the White House said on Monday, as cited by Reuters.
White House spokesman John Kirby told reporters that Washington guarantees there is no indication other documents have been released and that US officials have communicated with their Israeli counterparts about the leak.
In Israel, Israeli authorities dismantled a “spy network” consisting of seven Israeli citizens accused of working for Iran, the Israeli police and the Israel Security Agency (ISA) said in a statement.
The detainees were “gathering sensitive information about IDF bases and energy infrastructure,” the report said, adding that they were all Jewish citizens from Haifa and other parts of the country’s north. Its operations spanned more than two years and included “extensive reconnaissance missions on IDF bases,” which were often financially compensated with cryptocurrency.
