‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ Confirmed at Cannes – Misc

The Cannes Film Festival has confirmed the world premiere of “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” news that was first revealed by diverse last week.

James Mangold and Harrison Ford will climb the steps of the Palais des Festivals on May 18 alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Ethan Isidore and Mads Mikkelsen. The film will be shown out of competition.

The festival will also offer a special tribute to Harrison Ford for his career.

The film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas as executive producers. This installment will reportedly mark the last time Harrison Ford will play the titular character. Plot details of the movie are kept under wraps which are much tighter than those of The Mummy, but based on the trailer, this movie finds Dr. Jones encountering ex-Nazis in a flashback sequence who uses de-aging technology to send Ford back in time.

John Williams, who scored every Indiana Jones adventure since the original “Raiders of the Lost Ark” in 1981, once again composed the score.

Mangold said, “In 1995, I had the honor of coming to Cannes with my first movie Heavy as part of the director’s game Fortnite. After 28 years, I’m proud to be back with a slightly bigger spectacle. My fellow legends and I are so excited to share a new and definitive Indiana Jones adventure with you.” .

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set to hit theaters on June 28 in France and on June 30 in the United States.

Ford has played some of the most iconic roles of the past 50 years including Han Solo in the Star Wars franchise and Rick Deckard in Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” (1982) and Denis Villeneuve’s “Blade Runner 2049” (2017).
