It has been over a thousand days since the world entered a pandemic caused by COVID-19. The first time was very difficult because little was known about the virus that causes the disease, Covid-19.
A study was recently published that reveals some interesting results.
Covid-19: Most symptoms disappear after a year
An Israeli study published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ), cited by Lusa, reveals that "most symptoms or conditions that develop after a mild COVID-19 infection last for several months, but return to normal within a year."
Maidal Bivas Penida, a researcher at the Instituto Israeli de Investigaso KI, thinks these are good results because people who have been infected are doing well after a year. Compared to vaccinated individuals, they were less exposed. Another result of the study was related to male and female gender, where "minor differences" were noted.
The study was based on electronic records of Maccabi Healthcare Services, Israel's second largest health insurance fund, where nearly two million members were tested for COVID-19 between March 1, 2020 and October 1, 2021.
At least 17 million people in Europe were continuously infected with COVID-19 during the first two years of the pandemic, according to Lusa in September, according to World Health Organization data.
COVID-19 was identified in China three years ago and is an infectious respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. The disease has been considered an international public health emergency since January 30, 2020 and a pandemic since March 11, 2020.
