ATLANTA – Third-placed Georgia holds a 21-3 lead over No. 11 in Oregon on Saturday during the first half of Saturday’s Chick-fil-A Kickoff game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. What a great season this has been for the National Champions. Stetson Bennett IV senior quarterback Ladd McConkey hit from 4 yards with 21 seconds to play to give the Bulldogs the big lead at the break. Bennett is 18 of 21 passing for 254 yards and touchdown in two quarters.
One of the most impressive players in the game was running back Kenny Macintosh, who has a 7-yard sprint and a fast descent to go up to the 80-yard side. The biggest game of Georgia’s final round came in the inning when McIntosh got a pass and slashed down the left sideline for 38 yards.
Malaki Starks, the new star in this vaunted Georgian defense, played the game so far when the Oregon quarterback picked the Bo Knicks off the 8-yard line with a deep shot in one-on-one coverage. Knicks is 16 of 24 for 142 yards with two interceptions and has thrown several other ill-advised passes that would have been picked up if he had been near his receiver.
