Anthony Mackie He’s set to take on the mantle of the new Captain America in his own movie, but there’s been speculation about whether Chris Evans He might re-enact the role… he says, no chance.
News of Maki starring in the upcoming “Captain America 4” movie came out this week, with director Julius Unah It is said directly attached. This, of course, comes on the heels of Mackie’s Disney+ bid – which ends with him accepting the CA shield.
Sam Wilson is Captain America

You’d think that conclusion – made so vividly made in the show, this after Evans’ character, Steve Rogers, passed the torch at the end of ‘Endgame’ – wouldn’t be up for debate… but it clearly is among some fans. THR alluded to this in a thread.
In response to uncertainty about Evans’ possible involvement with the new movie and character, CE himself weighed in on Saturday… writing, “Sam Wilson is Captain America.”
The reason this is such a big deal…it seems to have shut down the trolls who, to this day, aren’t that great with the idea of Mackey continuing as the titular hero – a controversy that’s been brewing since 2019 when he was officially named Chris Evans’ successor.
Much of the pressure on AM was downright racist… with many saying that a black man simply shouldn’t be allowed to take on the role (even though it does in the comics).
Now, it seems Chris is confirming that he’s finished with “Captain America,” and that Mackie will continue exclusively as a character… without Chris’ involvement moving forward. Honestly, this makes logistical sense – Evans was portrayed as an old man in the final ‘Avengers’ movie… so cramming him into the plot, far from just a cameo, seems unlikely/unnecessary.
BTW, Mackie as the new Captain America carries a lot of weight. It is revealed in the show – based on an earlier comic series, Canon – that the fictional history behind Captain America is dark, as the US government tests/masters a super serum giving him its powers over black soldiers while Cap is under ice. So, technically, Captain America is built on black backs…a metaphor for our real-life history, some say.
So…kinda poetic that Mackie/Sam is the one forging a new legacy. However, the rendezvous strangely continues to talk about who “has the right” to follow in Chris’ footsteps, even after he’s spoken out.
