Calendar 2025: Bridges and long weekends

This is an important calendar to prepare for next year’s holidays. In 2025, there are five three-day weekends and four possible bridges, although there are only two holidays that fall on a weekend (except for Easter Sunday, which is mandatory).

Long weekends: Easter (Good Friday 18 April); April 25 and August 15 (Fridays) and December 1 and 8 on both Mondays.

As for bridges, they can be built during Carnival (in cases where companies or local authorities so dictate); On Labor Day; On June 10, Corpo de Deus and Christmas.

In December, there are two holidays on Mondays, so you can extend your vacation by two weeks with just eight days off.

Here is a list of holidays and possible bridges:

  • New Year (2025) begins with the middle of the week: Wednesday off 1st January.
  • The second holiday of the year is Carnival Tuesday, the March 4. It is not enjoyed by all local authorities or all companies, but in recent years the government has mandated holidays for public servants. This allows for a long weekend, with one day off (Monday, the 3rd).

  • The April 25Independence Day, a Friday, will lead to another long weekend:
