While there are a lot of POVs will SmithSlap – one person has something we haven’t heard, and it will be Bill Maher …who sees it as a microcosm of society as a whole these days.
We got the HBO host and comedian legend on Tuesday on “TMZ Live,” and he’s kept as true as ever as he broached his thoughts on the entire Oscar saga. Long story short…BM seems to think Will’s reaction was literally a fake Twitter rage that was wrapped up, well, in “real time.”

Check out Bill’s perspective…because it really feels spot on as exactly what happened, or at least what we all saw anyway.
Bill introduces the gameplay, showing Will laughing Chris RockGI Jane’s joke at first – I apparently found some humor in it, or so it seems – but then changed his tune on a dime, which seemed to be a direct response to how Jada Pinkett Reaction… AKA, not good.

At the time Will got up and did what he did, which Bell says was a completely overreaction – not unlike what he thinks a lot of Twitter justice warriors do on a daily basis.
In his mind, a lot of people might think something was funny at first (especially) but then they looked around the room and realized they weren’t actually “allowed” to feel that way…indignation.

That’s what Bell thinks Will’s episode was like – realizing that Jada was more upset than she was, and taking her case in the most gruesome way… go up and hit Chris, whom Bill defends endlessly here – even calling him a “hero” of the day.
There’s more that Bill gets into with us… including the fact that he was actually at the same party that Will and her co-stars were. He eventually flocked, and had some tea about how a prominent figure in the black community analyzed Chris’ reaction…or lack thereof.
Great insight from Bill, and it looks like this is just a taste of the other conversions he’ll be getting on his new podcast, “Club Random with Bill Maher,” which is live and off to a really great start.
