This includes more of the bright pink outfits worn by Margot Robbie, in the title role, and Ryan Gosling’s Kane as they sit in a convertible on their way to the real world. Robbie dons her most stylish holiday look (her beret, designer dress and side braid are “Emilie in Paris” meets Barbicour) while Gosling dons a jacket complete with a “B” logo.

“Did you bring your skateboard?” Barbie asks.
“I literally don’t go anywhere without them,” Ken replies, clutching a pair of the signature yellow skates seen in leaked photos last year.
The film (distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, which is owned by CNN’s parent company) hits theaters this July, and the new trailer references Gerwig’s dedication to building Barbie’s world and style — right from the opening shot of Barbie’s feet slipping out of her shoes while retaining her high arch. They’re joined by Issa Rae as Presidential Barbie, Dua Lipa as mermaid Barbie and Kate McKinnon, who has cropped hair, tousled makeup and the intense eyes of a doll who’s seen too many things.
Meanwhile, the film’s costumes have stirred excitement since last June, when on-set photos of Robbie and Gosling — who were spotted dressed in cowgirl and cowboy outfits and neon skater ensembles, complete with knee pads and masks — ignited a new movie.

“It looks like we’re laughing and having fun, but inside we’re dying — we’re dying,” Robbie told Jimmy Fallon after the photos went viral. “I was like, ‘This is the most humiliating moment of my life.'”
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Robbie said that “Barbie” will not be what viewers expect.
“We like things that feel a little left-of-center,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2020. “Something like Barbie where the IP, the same name, people immediately have the idea, ‘Oh, Margot is playing Barbie, I know what that is,’ but our goal is to be like, ‘Whatever you’re thinking, we’ll give you something completely different — The thing you didn’t know you wanted. “
