Atlanta Braves to put sedative Tyler Matsik on IL with shoulder discomfort

Brave Diminished Left Hand Tyler Matsikone of the strongmen during last year’s Atlanta World Championships, will be put on the injury list for 10 days due to discomfort in his shoulder.

The Braves announced Matzik was injured after Monday’s loss to the Brewers and will move up the roster ahead of Tuesday’s game in Milwaukee.

Matzik, who will have a scan Wednesday in Atlanta, told reporters that he started experiencing shoulder pain two or three weeks ago. He cited backache during spring training as a possible cause of the recent injury.

“Maybe it was two or three weeks [ago] ‘Matzek said Monday, according to MLB.com.’ That my shoulder was starting to feel uncomfortable I think I was just compensating for the lack of mobility in my back. Felt good trying to get through back [injury]. I think it turned into something else.”

Power-throwing Matzik has a 5.06 ERA in 13 games this season and has struggled for his control, allowing nine walks in 10⅔ innings. He was one of Atlanta’s best loyalists last season, when he scored 2.57 ERAs in 69 games, and was dominant during the post-season, going 3-0 with 1.67 ERAs and 24 strokes in 15 innings.

Rookie Braves manager Brian Snitker said Spencer Strider He will take on a more prominent role in the Atlanta game during Matzyk’s absence. Strider threw two goals-less on Monday, lowering his ERA to 2.75.
