At least 67 people were wounded in an attack by Hezbollah in the Israeli city of Haifa

At least 67 people were injured today following a Hezbollah drone strike in the Israeli region of Haifa, according to Israel’s emergency services.

The attack, already claimed by Hezbollah, took place in Binyamina, south of the city of Haifa.

According to information released by the Israeli emergency service Megan David Adom (MDA), 67 people were injured, four of them in critical condition, five in critical condition and 14 in moderate condition, while the rest had minor injuries.

Most of the injured were taken to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera, Haifa district, the same source added.

“The army intercepted a ‘drone’ launched from Lebanon towards the northern naval zone. Civilians should continue to follow the directives of the Home Front Command,” the Israeli military said in a brief statement.

Hezbollah said in a statement that its fighters ambushed Israeli soldiers and returned to “close-quarters” combat with the Israeli army, which has been conducting incursions into southern Lebanon.

For three weeks, Israel has been waging an intensive bombing campaign, in addition to ground attacks on southern and eastern Lebanon and the capital, Beirut.

At least five UNIFIL soldiers were wounded during recent fighting in southern Lebanon between Israeli forces and the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, an ally of the Palestinian Sunni Hamas movement, in a year-long war with Israel.

The Israeli military has intensified its airstrikes against Hezbollah in nearly a year of cross-border clashes that have displaced tens of thousands of people on both sides of the border between Israel and Lebanon.

The conflict worsened with the Israeli army’s ground invasion of southern Lebanon on October 1 – where it currently maintains four divisions – along with the intensity of Israeli bombings, which have already left more than 2,200 dead and 10,000 wounded, most of them in October.
