If you are infected with Covid-19, and the virus is one of the latest variants related to ‘stealth omicron’ or PA.2, it is good to have a medicine that allows you to reduce the fever. In a study recently published in the ‘Curious Journal of Medical Science’ – of over 200 patients in India suffering from various ‘versions’ of PA.2, the majority (82%) had fever.
Less than half had a cough, the researchers noted, and about a third had flu-like symptoms — other symptoms included fatigue (27%), headaches (21%) and muscle aches (20%).
Most patients recovered with minimal treatment: only 5% were hospitalized, more than 4% required oxygen and three died – about a quarter of patients were vaccinated and almost all received at least one dose of the vaccine against Covid-19.
The study looked at symptoms arising from the ‘stealth Omicron’ PA.2, which was notorious for producing mixed results in globally significant laboratory tests earlier this year. According to a recent report by the World Health Organization, PA.2 and its ‘progeny’ are responsible for about 7% of recent sequenced Covid-19 infections worldwide.
Based on the symptoms of victims in both countries, the results of the study differ slightly from those of the recently published ‘So Health Study’ by scientists from universities in the United States and the United Kingdom. Among the thousands of patients — people who received at least one dose of the vaccine — the most common symptoms were sneezing, headache, nasal congestion, cough and headache. People with Omicron had significantly less fever than those with the delta variant, a study by Western researchers found.
