After its launch earlier this year, Google is expanding the availability of Nearby Share for Windows PC to almost all countries around the world.
Nearby Sharing for Windows PC allows Android users to exchange files with their PC, be it a desktop or a laptop, wirelessly and via native Android menus. As we explained in our initial hands-on coverage, it’s generally very fast and reliable, even in this early beta.
However, at launch, Google restricted the feature to only a few countries, mainly focusing on the United States.
At that time, Google quietly expanded its support to other regions. on Support pageNow, Google says that Nearby Sharing for Windows PCs is now available in “most countries globally.” This includes parts of Europe, as well as many other countries around the world. Many were able to successfully install Nearby Share previously, but it wasn’t officially supported or available for direct download in many countries yet.
Google says:
Share Beta is available for Windows PCs in the United States and most countries worldwide. Support is currently unavailable for: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and Syria.
At the moment, the PC sharing feature is still in beta, and it still blocks some regions from using the app. This includes Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria. There is no information about an official release, and there are also no changes yet to the system requirements, including the lack of official support for ARM-based devices.
Thanks Bubba!
