A flight from Brazil to London landed in Porto due to engine trouble

A LATAM Brazil Boeing 777, en route from Sao Paulo to London, had to land at Porto airport after a problem with one of its two engines forced passengers to transfer to other flights.

In a statement sent to the Luza agency, LATAM Brazil said the flight, which took off from São Paulo (Cruelhos) to London (Heathrow), landed at Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport in Porto “due to an unscheduled maintenance requirement”, without specifying the failure of one of the engines, information Luza confirmed with aeronautical sources.

The landing of the Boeing 777, which can carry more than 300 passengers, was “completely safe” early Wednesday morning, the airline said.

“LATAM regrets the inconvenience caused and offers full assistance to passengers, who will be re-accommodated to their seats on other flights. The company follows all technical and operational security measures to guarantee a safe journey for everyone” , highlights LATAM Brazil.

As a result, this Wednesday's scheduled flight between London/Heathrow – Sao Paulo/Guarulhos “had to be cancelled,” the statement added.
