Russia on Monday warned against US nuclear weapons in Polish territory proposed by Polish Deputy Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski.
“The proposed measures will lead to further escalation of tensions on the ground,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a news conference.
In an interview published in the Sunday edition of the German newspaper Die Welt, Kaczynski said In the aftermath of the invasion of Ukraine, the US is ready to supply nuclear weapons to Poland, saying that the country’s troops should be strengthened in the eastern part of NATO to prevent Russian aggression.
The leader of the PiS party justified that “US nuclear warriors are strong factors and provide us with greater security when preventing Russia from attacking NATO countries.”
Jaroslaw Kaczynski proposed increasing the presence of US troops in Europe from 100,000 to 150,000 troops, half of which should be permanently stationed in Eastern European countries, on Russia’s borders.
“This will be a clear signal to Moscow that the NATO leadership will also be in the east,” the Polish prime minister concluded in an interview.
