A stunning scene in the Cedar Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis Tuesday, when a bus crashed into a popular restaurant and ended up almost entirely inside the building.
The collision occurred around 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of Cedar and Riverside Avenues, according to social media posts. Pictures posted on Twitter by Mason Butler (from KFAI AM DriveIt turns out that a University of Minnesota bus crashed into Acadia, a handcrafted beer bar and restaurant and music venue.
The bus appears to be almost completely inside the building, only its rear wheels at the back turning toward the curb.
According to Butler, eyewitnesses saw the bus crash into the restaurant, stop, and then continue moving forward again. Acadia opens at 11 a.m. every Tuesday. It is unclear how many people were inside at the time.
Metro Transit and Minneapolis police said the bus was part of the University of Minnesota’s fleet, and referred questions to the university.
