343 Industries has revealed new details in the second season of the multiplayer game Halo Infinite, including that it will be called Lone Wolves, that it will have new maps and modes, and that it will be released on May 3, 2022.
All news has been shared road aura By Halo Infinite, Chief Creative Officer Joseph Staten, he began by sharing the inspiration behind Lone Wolves, the name and theme of Season 2.
“By ‘theme’ we mean the basic idea that guides the creation of much, but not all, of the season’s content,” Staten said. “Lone Wolf Spartans are hunters. Trackers. They are resourceful improvised, operating deep into enemy territory without resupply or support. They are fierce, rugged, and prefer to operate alone—but still loyal to the Spartan pack.”
You can see concept art for two of these “lone wolves” above, and take a first look at Spartan Sigrid Eklund (left) and Spartan Hugh Dinh (right). Players will learn more about themselves and Spartan leader Laurette Agryna during the second season’s storyline – “a blend of cinema, story-themed events, Battle Pass elements, and more that embodies the Lone Wolves theme.”
As with the Tenrai samurai-esque armor core in Season 1, Season 2 will also feature a breaking event that breaks away from the “lone wolves” theme and gives players a unique new look at the Spartan look.
Season 2 will also see playlist updates, balance changes, new modes, and maps. This includes an Arena map called Catalyst, a BTB map called Breaker, a free-for-all elimination mode called Last Spartan Standing, another new mode called Land Grab, and the return of the King of the Hill.
In April, 343 will reveal more details about the Lone Wolves season as it prepares to launch.
343 updates for the co-op campaign, Forge, and season 3
It was previously revealed that the much-anticipated Halo Infinite co-op campaign won’t arrive until Season 2, but fans will have to wait a little longer because it won’t be ready immediately upon launch. 343 is committed to releasing four-player network co-op and two-player split-screen co-op for Halo Infinite on all Xbox consoles. However, 343 said that “the non-linear and wide-open sections of the campaign present some really big split-screen challenges that took us more time to solve.”
This means that the co-op campaign won’t be ready on May 3, but the team still aims to get it to fans later in the season. Number 343 was somewhat non-committal in the split-screen co-op, saying, “We’re still aiming to introduce campaign network collaboration later in Season 2, and we’ll be sharing a release date for that and for the split-screen op as quickly as possible.”
Forge is also progressing well and is still on track for Season 3. 343 currently “Forge directs to a small group of community creators and works closely with them to ensure you all have a great experience creating, sharing, browsing, and playing Fake Content.” Public flights planned for later this year.
343 is also working hard on season three, but he hasn’t shared any other details about that or how long season two will last.
