ohMilitary officials did not provide further details about the ballistic missile, saying only that analysis is ongoing, according to Yonhap.
The official North Korean news agency KCNA did not immediately confirm the matter.
It comes days after North Korea said it successfully test-fired a multiple-warhead missile, and South Korea, in turn, detonated the missile mid-flight.
Relations between the two Koreas are currently at an all-time low, with Pyongyang intensifying weapons testing while the South sends junk-filled balloons to the South in retaliation for Korea sending propaganda against the North Korean regime.
