A pregnant woman was allegedly hit by a “metal object,” her husband told the country’s newspaper, with “facial injuries” and “showing some swelling, but she is in good condition.”
A man armed with a knife injured several people in the northern Swiss town of Zofingen, police in Aargau province said on Wednesday.
The identity and motivation of the attacker and the number of injuries, some serious, were not immediately released by police, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).
The man first attacked someone at the station, which is about sixty kilometers south of Basel and about the same west of Zurich, in the city of about 12,000 people.
He then walked off and assaulted several people, apparently, before retreating to a home at random, according to a police news release.
About two hours later, the man was arrested by the police after negotiations with the special team.
Police insisted that the assailant was also injured and received medical treatment.
Regional daily Argaur Jaitung He published a testimony from a pregnant wife who was allegedly hit by a “metal object”.
The woman “has facial injuries and some swelling, but is in good condition,” her husband told the newspaper.
The victim was taken to the hospital in Aarau, about twenty kilometers from Jobingen.
Police have launched an appeal for witnesses, asking members of the public to send them videos and photographs for investigation purposes.
