Iron Dome is designed to protect against short-range weapons and can operate in any weather conditions. This system uses radars for detection RocketsDistinguish between drones or missiles and which of these devices may reach populated areas. This way, it only intercepts those who endanger people or buildings.
The system consists of several batteries located in Israel, each with three to four missiles capable of firing 20 interceptor missiles. These missiles, when fired, travel in a curve – which explains the name “dome”. Along the way, they collide with missiles or drones launched by enemies and destroy them.

Iron Dome is one of the strategic pillars of the alliance between Tel Aviv and the United States. Last year, two days after the October 7 Hamas attack, Benjamin Netanyahu's government asked Washington for more ammunition for its warplanes and more interceptors for Iron Dome.
The system's interceptors are 15 centimeters wide and three meters long, carrying several small sensors that detect short-range projectiles. To combat long-range devices, Israel relies on another system: the Arrow.
The Arrow is designed to intercept ballistic missiles armed with nuclear or other warheads outside the Earth's atmosphere. Israel Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari announced this Sunday that the system was successful against “a significant number of ballistic missiles” launched by Iran.
