Netflix has apologized after a critically acclaimed live-action of the hit dating show was delayed due to a glitch.
Instead, the encounter with Love Is Blind will air later on Monday in a pre-recorded broadcast.
Fans of the show, which features couples sharing before they’ve even seen each other, vented their frustration on social media.
The technical reason for the delay is not clear but the streaming giant said it was “very sorry”.
There are no spoilers for the Love Is Blind reunion in this article.
The reunion special will air at 18:00 BST (13:00 ET) on Mondays.
While some viewers in the US were able to catch the broadcast about 75 minutes after its scheduled start time, most were met with an on-screen reading “There is a problem with the live broadcast”.
Netflix reported delays over time and by 02:30 GMT – 90 minutes after the broadcast was scheduled to begin – the streaming giant apologized and told fans it was filming the episode instead.
“To everyone who stayed up late, got up early, gave up on a Sunday afternoon… We are incredibly sorry that the Love is Blind Live Reunion didn’t go as we planned,” Netflix tweeted in a statement.
“We’re filming it right now and we’re going to get it on Netflix as fast as humanly possible. Again, thank you and sorry.”
Netflix didn’t give a reason for the cancellation of the live stream, but show host Vanessa Lachey pointed out that it was a technical error in an Instagram live video, captioned: “Looks like we broke the internet.”
This was Netflix’s second attempt to bring a live event to its audience, after it successfully aired a Chris Rock special in March this year.
The comedy routine aired mostly without a glitch, with only a few users reporting problems across social media at the time, but technical glitches meant the Love is Blind live stream never got off the ground for most people.
Downdetector, which tracks websites, showed that more than 10,000 people in the US reported that the site was not working during the broadcast.
Angry fans took to social media to vent their frustration, and Netflix retweeted US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — who joked that she needed a hero from a previous episode of the show to help save her now.

But the decision to postpone the reunion caused a panic, as fans in the UK who had chosen to sleep over the live stream woke up to find that the episode was not available.
Some called the delay in showing the episode online unacceptable, while others noted that it means that spoilers are now spreading through social media.
Some international viewers have claimed that they are no longer interested in watching the show at all.
