LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The UNLV morning community is mourning the loss of Ryan Keeler, the student athlete who passed away in Las Vegas on Monday.
“We are devastated by the loss of a member of our rebellious family,” said UNLV first-year head football coach Barry Odom. “While I only had the privilege of knowing Ryan for a couple of months, he really stood out to our coaching staff as a wonderful person, student and teammate. Our condolences and prayers go out to Ryan’s family as we grieve with them on this terrible loss.”
Keeler, 20, was a defensive lineman for the UNLV Rebel football team. He was a highly sought after player who transferred to UNLV from Rutgers University. Keeler was an All-Mountain West academic honoree and had dozens of scholarship offers out of high school.
“The UNLV family is in mourning today for the sudden loss of a loved one,” said UNLV Director of Athletics Eric Harper. “Our thoughts are with all of Ryan’s family and friends along with his Rebel team mates.”
