One of the best budget gaming TVs for the PS5 or Xbox Series X is on sale this Black Friday

If you’re in the market for a premium, future-proof gaming TV but want to keep your budget under $1,000, take a look at the TCL 6-series TV. It has all the technology you’d want in a current-generation gaming TV to match your PS5 or Xbox Series X console, and it also works great as an HDR TV. Best Buy has the 65-inch model for $599.99 (usually $1,000), which is the lowest price we’ve seen, it’s $200 cheaper than what we saw during Amazon’s early Black Friday sale in October.

The reason why the TCL R646 is so much cheaper compared to other TVs with similar specs is because this is a 2021 model. There is a 2022 version (R655), but it is much harder to find and much more expensive. TCL R646 is proud of Mini Quantum Dot Panel (QLED) With full-array LED backlighting and 240-zone local dimming, as well as a wide color gamut. This makes it an excellent HDR TV, especially since it supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG.

What’s good about “Mini LED”, “QLED”, and “Local Dimming”?

The QLED panel allows this TV to maintain strong color tones and good dynamic range even at extreme brightness levels. Local Dimming allows different zones to dim or brighten independently of each other, allowing the TV to deftly handle scenes where the brightest white and darkest black appear simultaneously. Mini LED panels allow more precise local dimming because the control areas are smaller and more numerous. While an ordinary LCD TV with local dimming may have up to 100 dimming zones, the TCL R66 boasts a whopping 240 zones.

Why is this a good gaming TV?

TCL R646 has gamers in mind. It has a native 120Hz panel and HDMI 2.1 inputs. This means that it can pass 4K @ 120Hz on PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles and RTX 30 series-equipped gaming PCs. The TCL R646 also supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), which is this TV’s version of adaptive sync technology, as well as a low latency mode Automatic mode (ALLM), where the TV automatically switches to lower latency when it detects gameplay.

What smart interface are you using?

The 2021 TCL 6 series is also new enough to be Google TV certified for the smart TV experience. Google TV is a definite upgrade of the old Android TV interface and works just like Fire TV or Apple TV, even more so if you’re using an Android phone or tablet.
