In an update on the progress of the war, President Volodymyr Zelensky said this Friday that very intense fighting continues in the Donbass, particularly in the towns of Pakmut and Soledar (Donetsk region).

In custom speechZelensky says Ukrainian troops are holding their positions in Donetsk and have made progress in securing Ukrainian skies by destroying eight Iranian Shahedz drones and two Kalibrs cruise missiles.

The Ukrainian leader accused Russia of hiding the true number of casualties from the conflict in the Donetsk region from Russian society. “The Russian army has already spent more lives and ammunition than the two Chechen wars combined”. He also denounced Russian lies about the end of the partial mobilization.

The fact is that in Russian regions and occupied territories they are constantly recruiting people and sending them to their deaths.

For Zelensky, this is evidence that Russia does not really want to negotiate, unlike Ukraine, which says it is ready for a “fair peace.”

This Friday, the Head of State welcomed US National Security Adviser Jack Sullivan on a surprise visit to Kyiv. During the meeting, Ukraine’s air defense was discussed and a new US$400 million military package was announced, including T-72 tanks and Hawk anti-aircraft missiles from the Czech Republic.
